About Hillie

Barbara Windsor, in her review of Hillie's first book 'Hillie Marshall's Guide to Successful Relationships' says: "Hillie's lived a lot, loved a lot, and throughout her life has been the shoulder for many to cry on. Hillie works from the heart and no one has a bigger heart than Hillie". Hillie believes that experience of life is of the utmost importance in trying to help other people with their problems. She says, "you can't help other people unless you've actually experienced things yourself and come out the other side smiling.

My own life reflects many of the emotional and health difficulties people find themselves in today. My family have awarded me the QBE - Qualified By Experience!" Through her Agony Aunt pages on the Internet and her advice in magazines and newspapers, Hillie answers hundreds of problems every month in her own inimitable, sensible and sympathetic style covering a diverse range of subjects from health to happiness.

Left with two small children after 18 years of marriage, she divorced her husband in 1989 and started Dinner Dates. Dinner Dates is now one of the longest established and most respected dining and social events clubs for unattached single people in the UK, with over 10,000 members nationwide. In the early days of her Dinner Dates, Hillie hosted every event personally and because of her natural warmth and charm many members sought her advice about a wide range of personal problems and she eventually became the listening ear to thousands.

Hillie originally trained as a radiographer but moved on to pursue her interest in music and theatre. She started as an opera singer and later starred in musical comedy, pantomine and plays. In 1980 she formed her production company Edwardians Unlimited, producing Old Time Music Hall and Variety shows starring such celebrities as Roy Hudd, Barbara Windsor, Nicholas Parsons, Leslie Crowther, Clive Dunn and Barry Cryer. Whenever Hillie can find the time, she still appears in them herself!

Hillie will be familiar to many through her various TV appearances where she contributes her considerable experience on personal, practical and emotional problems.
